Kindergarten Hugs

Some people have asked me why I chose to name my blog "Kindergarten Hugs". Well, if you teach kindergarten or know 5 and 6 year old children, you know they love their hugs! Sometimes just a simple hug can mean the world to a child or anyone in that matter. Hugs make you feel better when you are down, they make you feel safe, they make you feel important, and they make you feel LOVED!

The other day when I was deciding on a title for my blog, I went through about 4 or 5 "clever" (or so I thought) titles and each of them were already taken. Then, soon after, one of my students who happens to be severely autistic, walked into the classroom with her aide. She doesn't say much in context of a conversation but that day she looked at our classroom aide and raised her hands and said a long drawn out, "HUG", then proceeded to give the aide a huge hug. At that moment, I knew the new title of my blog and I hoped and prayed that it wasn't taken! Kindergarten Hugs was perfect and fitting not only for me and my personality, but also fitting for the young children that we teach daily!

Now go give a hug to someone you love, someone who means the world to you, or someone who just needs a little pick-me-up!

I look forward to embracing all of you and sharing stories, thoughts and ideas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am thankful for all of the wonderful things I have been blessed with in my life. I am thankful for my husband, my family, and my friends. I am thankful for my wonderful job teaching kindergarten kiddos and the joy they bring me. I am thankful for a roof over my head and my health. But, most importantly, I am thankful my faith. My faith in the Lord is what has gotten me where I am today. Each and every one of us have a story to tell and each of us have a journey that has brought us to where we are. I know that my journey has had it's ups and downs but I know that without those ups and downs, I would not be the person I am today. A person taking steps into uncharted territory and taking that leap into a new and exciting things . I am starting this blog, not really knowing where it will take me but in hopes that I bring you wonderful ideas and share my passion for teaching. I hope each and everyone of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and were able to spend it well with family and friends. Oh, and good luck to all of you brave enough to take on Black Friday shopping!
